Tiffany Care Centers was started on December 3, 1976 by David and Wava Duncan, but the origins of the business dates back to 1956 when David’s parents, Howard and Ruth Duncan, opened Duncan Nursing Home in Mound City, MO. Mr. & Mrs. Duncan saw a need to care for the elderly in their community and converted their home into a nursing facility that provided 24-hour care for 22 residents. In May of 1969, David Duncan purchased the home and operated the home for two years until an opportunity arose to sell the home to the Bethesda Foundation who was willing to build a new 58 bed facility for the community. Duncan Nursing Home became Tiffany Heights.
David continued to worked for Bethesda until 1976 when he offered to purchase both Tiffany Heights and King City Manor from the Bethesda Foundation. At that point, Tiffany Care Centers was started with 2 facilities and 80 employees, with the foundation of providing quality care by people who care. In 1993 Tiffany Care Centers saw a need and decided to expand to provide in-home services to clients throughout Missouri, while continuing to grow it’s nursing facilities throughout Missouri. In 2007 Tiffany began an in-house therapy department to provide quality therapy and rehabilitation services to our residents and the local communities. Therapy services are available at all six nursing homes for inpatient services. Outpatient services are currently available at all six nursing homes. In 2013, Tiffany Care Centers started doing care management through our In-Home division.
Since 1956, it has always been the philosophy and practice of the Duncan family and Tiffany Care Centers to provide quality care to our seniors and have professional care teams provide the care. David Duncan passed away in 2009, but daughters, Kim Ireland, CEO and Kristine Gibson, VP Business Development, continue to keep the legacy of Tiffany Care Centers moving forward.
